One of the concerns that comes up every so often from potential customers who are new to the idea of dynamic websites is the cost. The thought is that a business website can be hosted for $30 per month, so why would they pay $115 (or more) per month? They don’t realize what’s behind the scenes. Here’s what we tell them…
If you were to develop your own website, you could easily spend $10,000 (a very conservative number) or more to build a website with a very limited feature set. How long would you expect such a website to last before it needed major updates? Two years? Three years? Five years? Five years in Internet time is an eternity, but for the sake of argument, we’ll say your $10,000 website would go five years without needing an overhaul.
A $10,000 website divided by five years equals out to $167 per month. Add to that the hosting costs you’d have to pay, and you get a number substantially higher than the $115 per month we charge.
