Biking to Work

After many years of not riding a bike I finally got my feet on the pedals again! It’s a “win” all the way around!

  • I get 20 minutes of exercise each day (about 10 minutes each way).
  • I save gas, to the point where the bike pays for itself in less than 100 days (3 mile round trip x 25ยข per mile in the Yukon x 2 Yukon trips per day = $1.50 … x 83 days = $124.50, about the price of my “el cheapo” bike).
  • I save wear and tear on the Yukon .

The best part is going for rides with the kids. Emily got a taste of Quality Time on a bike path last night, and she loved it!!!

Another Reason to Switch…

One of the best, but often overlooked, reasons to switch to WebsitesForPrinters.com is the powerful file transfer utility. It’s so easy to send large files to a website powered by WebsitesForPrinters.com. I was reminded of that again today by a prospect that’s getting ready to switch to us from PrinterPresence.com. The prospect has a customer with multiple T1 connections that tried to send large files to their PrinterPresence.com website. Didn’t work. The prospect reported that PrinterPresence.com only supports file transfers of up to 100 MB.

By contrast, there is no size limit on the file transfer tool provided by WebsitesForPrinters.com. The only limit is a time limit. After clicking the Send button the sender has a four-hour window to transfer files to the printer’s website. I myself have transferred a whole CD’s worth of information (600+ MB) without so much as a hiccup. That’s the way it’s supposed to work! That’s why printers are switching to WebsitesForPrinters.com!

Switching from PrinterPresence.com to WebsitesForPrinters.com

Now THIS is getting frustrating. We have a pretty good track record of customers coming to WebsitesForPrinters.com from Printer Presence. I’d estimate the ratio is about 12:1 in our favor of people that switch. However, with one of the most recent switchers, Printer Presence just was not helpful in the least bit. I understand their reluctance to help when they are about to lose a customer, but refusing to help is simply not a way I’d want to do business, especially when a customer is getting ready to leave. When a customer leaves I’d want to make sure to give them the best possible treatment in hopes of saving them … or at the very least I’d want to make sure to NOT give them a reason to criticize me.

We couldn’t transfer using the “normal” methods because Printer Presence was holding the customer’s domain in their reseller account with Network Solutions. All the Printer Presence needed to do was to put in the new DNS entries for the domain being transferred. Then when the website is live with us they would need to unlock the domain, provide us with the authorization key, and approve approve transfer to our registrar.

But they didn’t.

So now we’re on to Plan B, and it’s working … and they’ll lose customer, leaving them with bad feelings … and we’ll gain a customer with good feelings!
